Default Another Newbie Question :)

Any suggestions for a Civil War Quarterly/Monthly? I have a couple issues of "The Civil War News" and am leaning towards subscribing.

Thanks,
Dave

There are never, Oscoda, too many questions. This one, however, I must leave to those who actually subscribe.

Simple:

The Confederate Veteran

Published by Sons of Confederate Veterans, can be subscribed for $26. Six editions per year. This one's been around more than 100 years. Good stuff.

Dave, I like the Civil War News for its preservation and reenactment news and book reviews.

Some people like the Civil War Courier but I can't recommend it, since the free issues I've been given have never tempted me to subscribe.

The Civil War Historian is VERY good. It covers the battles but more importantly, it includes civilian life during the civil war. A must subscribe in my humble opinion

Magazines!

I subscribed to Time and Sports Illustrated for many years. Now, because of the internets, I can get the same info online. It's like that with more and more magazines. You can get most all the same content online, for free (usually), as you can be subscribing to the tree killing versions.

Besides, with all the books I have accumulated, I have little time for magazines.

I still get some in the mail because every so often I get suckered in by a great offer, but more often than not, I just end up with a pile of unread magazines.

All that rant aside, I used to subscribe to a few CW magazines. Civil War Times was one, but I think I was not very satisfied with that and switched to North and South (or was it Blue and Gray?). Anyway, I have let my subscription lapse.

This topic was discussed on a previous post a while ago. Maybe that could give you some more ideas, or maybe leave you more confused.

samgrant,

Thanks for the link to the thread. I should have searched around a bit before starting a new one.
