In a short run through, I've not found the ***** you reference. I'm guessing here, but when Mike and Ami set up this very fine discussion board they were concerned with family language and got especially concerned with words associated with spammers. In their efforts to create a family friendly and spam-free board for us, they may have oversubscribed to the the censor.

It remains that this is the way the board works. It might seem occasionally silly to have what is generally accepted to be a harmless word *****'d out. In the longer run, I'd think we can see and accept the intent.

Their intentions have managed quite well for many years. I'll go with that record.

Ole,

Just for your information the word ***** was in the very first post #1. I thought it odd and thereby my comments.

I still think it is unjustified to proscribe the word, oddly enough I can use muslim, but not *****. This does not make any sense.

-

Never mind the words, I would not like to think that our membership would not be inclusive of anyone of any race, religion, etc. The lack of 'others' in our membership is a topic I'd somewhat like to explore, but not here (too complex).

---

OK then, I will also not dwell on the 11th Article of the 1796-97 Treaty with Tripoli which says:

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Just some FYI for your consideration.

Cordially, Sam

Geez, Sam! It it is what it is. I do not run this board. If Mike and Ami want to add a tint to a ****, I don't have the the leeway to call the color.

This is not my board! I am entrusted to try to keep it within what they intend it to be. And I will screw up not once, but often, but it remains that I work toward what they want this board to be. If ***** is forbidden but muslim is not, then it's a thingy of the software. **it happens.

I just want to mention one thing I have always thought that the name "Cassius Clay" was a better name for a boxer then "Muhammad Ali".

Like I have a say....just a thought

I think I'll limit my opinions on this forum to sports that I actually know something about.

Default Hard to See

Sure hard to see Ali today, when you think back to him in his prime. Rotten disease.

I will second that, Dog. For good or ill, he was a larger-than-life human being.
