Default Hey Blue Zouve!!!

Zou, do you realize that the 10th anniversary our meeting is coming up? It was 10 years ago this June that we met on the steamboat Mississippi on that Civil War cruise.

That was a great cruise, argueably one of the best vacations I've ever had. As much as I enjoyed the Civil War lectures and tours, I think I liked sitting out on the deck in the evening as the river banks glided by with a nice breeze and listening to the paddle wheels bite into the river.

I still have my Mississippi Queen Engineering base ball cap. Did you ever get your novel published. Unfortunately, my history didn't get published in one piece. But I did get pieces of it done here and there.

Bill, now you're making me feel old.

The novel is not published YET. You know how it is, life needs to be lived. I've written a couple more since then, so my authorly life is not completely on hold.

I agree, that was one of the best trips of my life. The lectures, meeting like-minded people, the shore excursions (especially to Fort Pillow) and yes, sitting on the deck and watching the river roll mile by mile. How they had to lower the stacks to pass under the bridges. The night Bobby Horton gave the impromptu concert in that outdoor bar on the afterdeck. The way I controlled myself and DIDN'T ask, at President Lincoln's press conference, "Briefs or boxers?" !!

Do you remember my pal Debbie, who was interested in the New York flags? She finally got to go to Gettysburg last summer and walk in her Grandpa's brogan steps.

Now I'll have to go look at my album and relive the trip again!

Zou

Yes, I remember Debbie, I had sent her a few items I had on soldiers from the 61st NYV's. Regina wants to go on another steam boat trip. I said no way in heck unless we do a fall foliage one heading north. Heading south on the Mississippi was just too darn hot for me.
