Default Civil War on History Channel

They had a nice show on last night about the 'General', Moseby's Rangers, and the Crater at Petersburg. I thought they did a pretty good job with it. It was followed by John Wilkes Booth, but I couldn't stay up for that.

I know we bemoan the History Channel for not focusing on the Civil War enough, so I figure that we should note when they actually do.....

Anybody catch this, what did you think about it?

I watched it and thought it was pretty good. The details were quite interesting and what re-enactors they had doing the scenes, did them rather well.

I've been constantly on the look out for Civil War programs and it's disturbing that the History channel has practically avoided the subject. Hopefully they'll step up and start showing more.

My program listing for History Channel prime time last night has:

Modern Marvels, Modern Marvels, Underworld, Ancient Discoveries, Mega Disasters, Modern Marvels.

Was Mosby a Modern Marvel or an Underworld character? I'll admit that the Crater was a Mega Disaster.

This program was "Secret Missions of the Civil War." They did the General, Mosby's raid on Fairfax Courthouse, the assassination and the hunt, the mine at Petersburgh, and the plot to burn New York. Interesting stuff -- and they repeated it.

Thought I might have caught some generalizations (omissions of information) but they gave me some detail (Booth's escape and the chase) that I hadn't heard before.

Believe the program was three-hours long. Watched it twice. Enjoyed it both times.

Sam, I only caught it because all the other channels I usually watch had nothing on. The History Channel is usually the 3rd or 4th alternative.

Now what I find amazing is that the history channel actually aired something about history.

Instead of UFO's and Bigfoot.

I agree Borderruffian...I am afraid I missed the show.
It would be nice to see more Civil War shows on the HC. I really enjoyed The Revolution. Simplistic but well done I thought. It almost played like a drama.

Which just goes to show - it is the "History" Channel only in the most liberal sense (and no, I do not mean Beowulfian Liberal).
