This isn't "hot news" exactly. On Nov. 14th, part of the Confederate Monument in Montgomery, Alabama, was vandalized. The hands and faces of some of the soldier statues were painted brown, and "N.T. 11. 11. 31" painted on the monument.
As many posters here doubtlessly know, Nov. 11, 1831, was when Nat Turner was executed. The SCV are calling for the vandalism to be investigated as a hate crime.
Two thoughts: 1.A historically knowledgeable group of vandals. 2. Finally, some black Confederates.
Might be my cynical nature but I doubt many, if any HS students even have a clue who Nat Turner was. I suppose I would like to know who done it but my thoughts are we'll never find out; and maybe better if we don't.

I doubt if black Confederates would commit acts of vandalism against a Confederate monument. I'd attribute it to the anti-Confederates of African Heritage or radical leftists who haven't figured out that the war is over, the North won, and that the while we should be aware of our history including the Nat Turner Rebellion, there is no need to vandalize monuments.
They need to do community service, like passing out leaflets encouraging others to abide by the law or speaking to students about civil behavior - while wearing a barrel shirt.
Gary, the war is over. The North didn't win; actually I doubt either side won. Loses were severe through the entire population. Black Confederates are usually quite protective of Confederate heritage. You are quite correct about the monuments. Almost ranks up there with tombstone vandalism. No need for it in a civilized society.

having been the victim of grafitti some years ago, I believe the perpatrators should be tracked down and publicaly displayed in stocks. Just my opinion.
I dont care who you are or how old you are if you want to vandalize somthn go vandalize each others cars or somthn. They need to all get lives and have some respect for their history. This is pretty sad because im only a jr. in high school and I have more respect than these thugs.
