The south has a romantic view of itself before and after the civil war along with victim complex.
Yes, a victim complex you southern whiners complain that you were the victims of northern aggression while forgetting you all shoot the first shot and that you all chose the gun over dialogue.
Yes. you have this romantic belief you were fighting for some noble cause like states rights and some fantasy you all call a way of life.
In truth you all were not fighting for some noble cause but for an elite oligarchy who's wealth was form the inhumanity of slavery, for state wrongs and for a way of life based on the inhumanity of slavery,
The south's romantic view of itself is a fantasy one conjured up by the reactionaries in the south and the southerns bought into it along with southern historians.
The tragedy is many southerns today buy into this romantic fantasy of the old south instead of the truth.
I am not from South, but still find it romantic, sorry can`t help it .
South has a lot of common with my country - Poland in XVIII century.
One of my very favorite characters from the American Revolution was from Poland. Have you ever heard of Casimir Pulaski the famous Polish soldier and politician and the father of American Cavalry?
BTW did You know that he was a 'confederate' ? He was one of general`s of 'Bar Confederation'. If You are interested what was it, here it is in English -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Confederation .
From Civil War I remember two Poles fighting in it. One was a brigadier general Krzyzanowski in Union army. The second was Lieutenant-Colonel H. Oladowski who was a chief of ordnance of Army of Tennessee.
