There was a Hotchkiss Percussion Shell for the wiard 6 pounder, 3" Ordnance Rifle & James Rifle. The Schenkl Shell & Case percussion rounds were both used in 3" Ordnance Rifles.

I don't know if the CS made Burton, Reed Broun or Mullane shells used a percussion fuse.

Dean Thomas has an excellent primer out there on CW Arty... I'm not certain of the title, one of those excellent inexpensive books avail at most NPS sites.

Look to Bartleson Civil War Explosive Ordnance, Coggins excellent work Arms & Equip of the Civil WarArtillery Ammunition of the Civil War... I don't know the author.

Any one of those title should get you a good start.
