Here's a site that I really enjoy. It features photographs of all the generals during the Civil War, even the obscure ones. One of the great things is, that you can see how those who survived the war, aged and looked in their later years.
John,
I like that site as well. The photos help keep everything in perspective for me that these were men just like us.

To put a record to the face, there is a two volume set called Personel of the Civil War edited by Wm Frayne Amann. The original was printed as separate from the Official Record and was compiled in part by CSA General Marcus Wright. Volume I covers " Local designations of confederate organizations"(authors bolding) and Memorandum of Armies, Corp, and Geographic commands in the Confederate states, 1861-1865". Volume II covers the "Record of the General Officers of the Armies of the United States during the War of the Rebellion. Part II also has a "List of Synonyms of Organizations in the Volunteer Service of the United States".
This two volume is pretty rare though, I purchased it about 7-10 years ago and paid 80$ for it then and after the owner took off 20$ because i was such a frequent customer. I have a 1961 version by Yoseloff publishing.
Thought you ladies and Gents might enjoy a chance to put a record with the faces on the site provided by John W.
Respectfully,
Matt

Any site which has Gen. Pat Cleburne's photo IS worth visiting! I may trim my beard to a 'Cleburne style" this coming summer. Right now I'm letting it grow like Jeb Stuarts. ;-)
