Our draft was held last night, a great time was had by all, and everyone managed to nail down pretty decent squads. Jenna managed to nail down most of the Packers, so if you are in the market for a Packer player, the going price might be steep!
League members- check your starting lineups to make sure that is how you want to play this weekend. Pay attention to the red letters listed next to player's names, it is their injury standing. 'P' is okay, but 'Q', 'D', 'O', and 'NA' are not good, particularly the last three as it means that player will not play this weekend or is very unlikely to.
This week's matchups:
The Light Division vs General Sherman;
Mobile Greys vs Damman;
4Forever vs Mosby's Rangers;
Bullets vs Thea's Eagles;
Zouaves vs Silver Spring Guards;
Colts vs Dixie Brits.
Best of luck everyone. Sit back and enjoy Sunday rooting on your favorite teams and your own players. ed

Our first week of games is in the books. This week saw a veritable batle of Titans- a number of high scoring, take no prisoners matches. Starting off with Thea's Eagles and Bullets- 129 pts each!! It looked like Tom had things well in hand until Thea's receivers Glenn & Moss took over Monday night gaining her 48 pts. Incredible! It took Bullets' Cowboy tandem of Julius Jones and Keyshawn Johnson to stay apace- and stay apace he did in a classic slug-it-out! Genl Sherman's meeting with The Light Division promised fireworks, and so it was, both sides having 120+ pts as firing subsided Sunday Night, the renewal of hostilities the next day saw Sherman's bummers outlasting AP Hill's fabled boys 127-121. Another clash of 100+ pters saw Damman overcoming Mobile Greys 115- 106.
Jenna's Brett Favre & his Packer buddies returned the faith by pacing her to a 116- 88 win over Mosby's Rangers, Mosby getting adjusted to this battle line fighting. A pair of 90+ pters triumphed as Reb duo Dixie Brits & Silver Spring Guards outlasted the Yanks Colts & Zouaves. Of course we all know how this Yank/ Reb conflict ultimately ends, so stay tuned....
This week's matches pit our pair of Noble Ladies, swathed in victory as they are- Thea's Eagles and Jenna's 4Forever. The Light Division undertakes a flank march to take on Damman. And four more classic Yank/ Reb engagements- Sherman's bummers vs Mosby's irregulars; Guard vs Bullets; Dixieites of a British persuasion vs French influence Zouavesl: and Colts vs Greys.
Take care all. This week for sure we shall see if Rebs or Yanks shall have bragging rights in this war!!

EWC, and all other league members,
I am slow to come to the forefront in this campaign, as of yet, however, the season, she is still young. I really dropped the ball, by not being able to attend the draft. Even though you can rank your players, it still does not really compensate for not being there in person, to make the pick you want, for a given situation. The player you really want, may not be the player you get, as others picks, sometime alter what you would do under that situation. Anyway, I am doing my best to rectify the position in which I find myself. This is only the first game, and I hope put some hurt on anyone in my path, in the coming games. Thea..............girl, you done good in your first opportunity this season, good luck to ya', my friend.
ewc........what's this 'irregulars' stuff........huh??? With that statement, I will make short work of you if we meet this season. I will come at you from so many directions, that you'll think the whole Southern Army has desended upon your raggard band.

SgtCSA...
Well, well, Colonel Mosby, we meet this very week as it happens. Bring on your 'irregulars.' Course no Union general uttered those words and found good things happening thereafter. But let us see what ol Sherman and his 'bummers' can do in the 'Mosby Confederacy!'

You guys aren't going to believe this but I didn't even KNOW until last night, Friday, that my team had come back to tie 129 to 129 in the Blue and Gray League.
I had glanced right before bed Sunday night and thought both teams were through and that I had been beaten soundly. I didn't know I had two players left to play Monday night or I would have been cheering my head off!
Tommy told me last night that my opponent had even written me a message congratulating me on being the "Comeback Kid".
I am so sorry that I never even saw that message. But the idea of tying at the beginning of this new league is very exciting considering how many BYE players I have this week in either this league or Ed's other league. And in that one I'm sure to be knocked off my pedestal. Can you believe it, Ed? Last year I won 2-3 games total and this year I'm starting off as Leader of the Pack! As Tommy says, Whoo Hoo!
I sure wish I had known about that too this week. I would have been on cloud nine! I guess I will follow my teams more closely but I had some family issues this week that took up a lot of my time.
Good luck to everybody in the Blue and Gray! Let's play some more smashmouth football!

The big battles of Wk 3 have not decided the issue greatly for either side, as Unionists vs Secessionists came out even. The North posted some mighty numbers: Damman 179 pts topping the Light Division; Zouaves 163 pts besting Dixie Brits; and Bullets 147 pts over Spring Guards. However Greys put up 125 pts to block Colts; Thea's Eagles with 98 to defeat 4Forever; and in a mighty slug-it-out Mosby's boys stunned Sherman's bummers 117- 112.
Fields are set then for the next round of engagements:
Genl Sherman vs Thea's Eagles;
4Forever vs Silver Spring Guards;
Bullets vs Dixie Brits;
Damman vs Mosby's Rangers,
as well as:
Mobile Greys vs The Light Division;
Zouaves vs Colts.
As bye weeks and injuries and nonperformances kick in, things tend to get a bit interesting. Will Sherman recover in the face of Thea's high soaring Eagles? Will Damian's juggernaut compel Mosby's irregulars to hit harder from the rear? Will any overseas aid succor the Rebs from Union Bullets? And will transplanted Louisianian Brett Favre continue to do his best Zachary Taylor impersonation?
Watch and see...
Note to Colts- Fret not on Manning, though right now he's not got his artillery properly suporting his receivers!! He'll come round; heck Granny Lee didn't stay too old too long! Might even be a good time to see if Tommy might like Tom Brady for him?
