I used to subscribe to them all. A commitment to preserve an ocean going tug required that I divert funds to that enterprise so I canceled all but Civil War History. I gave all 30 years worth of Civil War magazines I had to the local library.
Only two magazines I subscribe to are Blue and Gray and Gettysburg. I like North and South, but not enough to cough up the money to subscribe. I'm not crazy about Civil War News.

I don't currently subscribe to any but am looking for one. I don't re-enact, I am interested in general CW history. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you want "lighter" history, then America's Civil War or Civil War Times would probably fit the bill (the Times is a bit more scholarly, I suppose but just sort of dry, in my estimation). The best all around is Blue and Gray, although North and South has its defenders. Both would certainly be general history, as they cover a wide variety of battles.

That's actually why I prefer Blue and Gray over North and South...B&G is purely military history. N&S also covers the politics and such. The military aspects of the war are what interest me, so B&G for me. And I like the driving tours.
