Default Any Richmond based Virginia Historical Society members here?

Need to git something from their library and don't want to pay $15 research fee.

Gary,
I'm not in Virginia, and perhaps nobody here is near Richmond, but is the information you need something that someone on this board might provide without living there?

Hi,

In the General Collection is the Huguenot Society of South Carolina Transactions. Vol 79 (1974), p. 89-101. Catalog number is: E184 H8 S7 v. 79 They have a 13 page paper by George Winter that I'd like to have a copy of. Can you retrieve and send to me? I'll pay for copy & postage & coffee. TIA.

Gary

Gary,
I'm guessing that no one on this board has access to what you need. Looking at the title of what you want, I'm wondering if this is related to a genealogy search?

If it is, you can go to the Virginia Genweb site, and perhaps solve your problem that way. Try:

http://www.usgenweb.com

On that page you'll find a link to Virginia GenWeb pages, and once you get to the state page, there should be a list of county pages. Almost all gen web sites have people who will do lookups for the cost of copying and postage.

If you're familiar with Rootsweb, I believe there is also a Civil War mailing list with them...although Rootsweb is such a huge site you'd probably have to search for it. I'm subscribed to several Rootsweb mailing lists, and people frequently ask for "lookups" on those pages. Rootsweb is at:

http://www.rootsweb.com

Good luck. Johnny Rube

Thanks Johnny Rube, but geneology is too sophisticated for my simple brain. I tried to trace one soldier once and learn his origins (since the card was not in his service record at NARA). Went to the Census records and that told me where to look. Fell flat on my face. The name was for a 2 year old. I then spoke with a gal who has done plenty of searches and she told me what I feared: I would have to check every state and narrow it down by elimination. I passed it over and called the search a failure.

Actually, I want the 13 page account as it may help me with my own historical research on the Late Great Unpleasantry Between States or the Mother of American Family Feuds.
