Good article about John Brown. He seems to have been very intelligent and very passionate in his abolitionist views, and may have furthered his cause much more had he stuck to oratory and editorials. His penchant for extreme violence though, I think turned many people against him, people who might have helped him had he pushed his agenda peacefully. I don't accept or acknowledge him as a martyr for the abolition cause. He leaves an image in my mind of a homicidal crack-pot, wacko, extremist megalomaniac, in spite of the famous painting of him being led to the gallows with black people weeping over him as if he were their saviour. (which never happened except in the mind of one melodramatic artist).
