They got troops to India. To the darkest parts of Africa. To Australia. Difficult yes. But I do not see it as more than time consuming. They could sail troops from the 4 corners of the globe. Not just the home island. As to the attempt to cross Canada, that would have been ok too given that the Hudson Bay company would be helping. I just think the army there would have to be defensive. Although sacking Chicago would have been a decent idea once the war started in full.

Take a look at the time involved in travel from NY to San Fran add the Atlantic crossing time and then add any manuevers required to defend against US warships...

From England to India... then from India to San Fran...

Not feasible... easier, cheaper and less time consuming to make a landing on the Eastern seaboard somewhere.

You have to feed the men, pay them care for horses for the arty and Cav... etc. It's more than lines on a map.
