Hi To All I became interested in the CW while researching my ancestery. My gg Uncle and his three sons enlisted in the 73rd Ohio. One son died and was buried at Gettysburg. Now I can't stop reading about the CW. Can anyone share info on the 73rd Ohio Infantry? Thanks John}

Regiment lost during service 4 Officers and 167 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 149 Enlisted men by disease. Total 321.

Also try the Civil War Soldiers & Sailors system... that might give you a bit more info.

Try by the soldiers name and also look at the rosters of the regiment, often they are spelled differently in Rosters than you might expect.

Check with the Ohio State Historical society or the Secretary of State. States have a lot of info for Vol. regiments.

On the thread of inquiry that Doug started you also might check to see if Ohio has it's own OR... most states do and they often hold more info than the info available elsewhere. WEll worth the inquiry.
