Speaking of dates, is anyone else feeling that 'chill' of history dates when the calendar and the holidays of Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter all fall on the same dates as they did in 1865? I couldn't keep my mind off the fall of Richmond last Saturday, and of course this Sunday....
It makes it seem like those events are closer to me, and reminds me of Shelby Foote's suggestion that when one tours battelfields, they ought to do it on the same days as the battle and at the same times, to get the feel for how the conditions were.
And I think to see the spirits!

I wasn't aware that the dates fell the same this year as 1865, but its very interesting and I agree that it would be nice to visit a CW battlefield on the anniversary date.
dictated by the first full moon after the first day of spring or some such, it is a rare occaision when Palm Sunday falls on April 9th or Good Friday on April 14th.
I was just wondering if anyone else had noted that.
