Default Wilson's Cavalry Corps

I just thoroughly enjoyed WILSON'S CAVALRY CORPS, Union Campaigns in the Western Theatre - October 1864 through Spring 1865 by Jerry Keenan 1991 Published by McFarland & Company, Jefferson, North Carolina. [Jefferson will eventually become famous as my birthplace?]

James Harrison Wilson was sent to Middle Tennessee to organize the disparate cavalry units operating without a central command in the period immediately prior to Hood's Tennessee Campaign. This is an excellent account of his efforts dealing with the likes of Nathan Bedford Forrest and providing the thrust for the overpowering the the Confederate west flank at Nashville. It was Wilson who followed Forrest's rear guard south from Columbia, Tennessee after December 18, learning much from the Wizard of the Saddle in the process. Building a sizeable cavalry force between Waterloo and Gravelly Springs, Alabama in March 1865, he eventually overwhelmed Forrest's defense of Selma, Alabama on April 2, 1865. Mr. Keenan presents a well-researched effort which makes a good reference for both armies during this brief period of the war.
