Default "Glory" on AMC tonight

"Glory" is on AMC tonight. Its to be shown twice, the 2nd time an "enhanced" version, meaning they run it in letterbox format, and subtitles give commentary and additional info.

In the promos, this included stuff like where the scenes were filmed, and some "history vs. Hollywood" comments. Given that its film people doing the commentary, I don't know that how accurate the historical info will be. But its looks interesting and worth watching.

I've got it on right now. I never get tired of the movie or its music soundtrack.

I believe much of the music was performed by the Boys Choir of Harlem.

They do a tremendous rendition of a difficult choral piece, and how appropriate it is for the Boys Choir of Harlem to sing on the soundtrack for the movie about the 54th Massachusetts.

Minor point. In the film the Union troops charge Battery Wagner with the Atlantic to their left. This would indicate that they were charging south. Historically, the Atlantic was on their right and they were charging north. It doesn't detract from the film and I certainly didn't notice it when I saw the movie back in '89. Since then, I've studied the Siege of Battery Wagner extensively.
