Default Abe Lincoln in Illinois

Just happened on this old movie on TCM from 1940, with Raymond Massey as Abe.

Just arrived at New Salem and wrassled Jack Armstrong, to the pleasure of Miss Rutledge.

"Hurray!" - Lincoln elected Captain for the Black Hawk War.

Now he's the Postmaster! (he'll pay Miss Rutledge's postage due!)

.... etc.

Pure corn.

When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.

Never let facts stand in the way of a good story.
