OK, now I rembember where I came across that term 'furby', it was in Confederates in the Attic.

Well, as movies go, The Undefeated with John Wayne and Rock Hudson must qualify as one of the worst.

Cold Mountain is a real stinker. Jude Law stinks as a Confederate deserter as he did as a Soviet sniper in "Enemy At The Gates."

Well, as I have no personal opinion of Jude Law as an actor, I did appreciate the (perhaps superficial) depiction of the trenches at Petersburg, as well as the Crater explosion and aftermath. I also can appreciate the depiction of the so called 'Home Guards' going after deserters, etc. (Now I'm thinking you have some personal problem with Jude Law?)

I'm sorry. I realize it may offend some people. I personally have never been called a _____, but it would be offencive.

No "personal problem", I just do not care for either the movie or the actor. Simple as that.

Default Santa Weighs In

Just received this dispatch from the North Pole:

Ho, Ho, Ho, Sam, I laughed when you confused our Furby toys with those inauthentic Reenactors! Ho, Ho, Ho.

Well you know, we don't make as many Furby's as we did a few years ago, we now are busy making those Elmo T.M.X.s, which you children seem to love so much, Ho, Ho, as well as our usual favorite toys, Ho, Ho Ho.

Now, Sam, I did see you sleeping and also when awake, I must say you behaved better asleep than awake, Ho, Ho. In spite of your confusion between Furbies and ****ies, I think you have been a pretty good boy this year, Ho, Ho ,Ho.

I did have somewhat of a problem with your criticism of Mr. General Lee. You know us white beards stick together! Ho, Ho, Ho. I'll excuse that as long as you lay off that 'Lost Cause' stuff by Christmas day. Ho, Ho, Ho!

Sam
One should not be allowed to to drink egg nog (and what ever you mix with it) and post at the same time.

I am sure Santa would have brought you something nice till you critizied a John Wayne movie.

Bill

Default Here's a Stinker

(By the way, Santa added that Bill has been a very bad boy this year, and will be sucking coal for a while.)

The movie, Love Me Tender, EP's first (not last unfortunately):

"IT'S MR. ROCK N'ROLL...IN THE STORY HE WAS BORN TO PLAY!"

"Elvis plays Clint Reno, one of the Reno brothers who stayed home while he brother went to fight in the Civil War for the Confederate army. When his brother Vance comes back from the war, he finds that his old girlfriend Cathy has married Clint. The family has to struggle to reach stability with this issue. Vance is involved in a train robbery, while a Confederate soldier, of Federal Government money. There is a conflict of interest, when Vance tries to return the money, against the wishes of some of his fellow Confederates."

-from http://imdb.com/title/tt0049452/

Did ya know all that hip swivlin' and leg shakin', with the teen girls whooping about it, was going on in 1865?
  • Anachronisms: In the scene where Cathy Reno is at the window crying, a car can be seen in the background.
Anachronisms: A Confederate soldier zips up the pants that were taken off Northern soldiers, before zippers were invented.
Continuity: Elvis' hair is black during the final "Love Me Tender" reprise, but closer to blonde in the rest of the film.
Anachronisms: When the locomotive engineer is ordered to halt his train, he applies an air brake.
To me, the most remarkable feature of this film is the most amazing resemblance of Debra Paget (Cathy) to Presley's real wife Priscilla!

I am laughing at myself here as I had to read and re-read these entries twice to figure out what word it was that was being censored. Thanks Zou for the phonetic "far-bee". I think this board is much better than crossword puzzles for working out the cobwebs our our brains.
