Trudeau's Gettysburg Gettysburg - A Testing of Courage by Noah Andre Trudeau
I put this along side Coddington and Sears as fine single volume G'burg books.
Strong on the movements and buildup to the battle. Many, many maps (at least 70).
Also covers the plight of the citizenry of Gettysburg, often neglected in most accounts.
Finally, at neat afterword of the futures of the major characters both military and civilian.
Trudeau's take is that Lee was confident of sucess, but that Lee's own vague orders in combinations with lower level errors/misunderstandings were the undoing of the Confederates.
