Default Stealing The General

I've just got through reading Russell S. Bonds' "Stealing The General: The Great Locomotive Chase and the First Medal of Honor". In my opinion, this is a very well written account of the Great Locomotive Chase using the recollections of the participants, and archival research. Including is a very good account of how the Medal of Honor was created.

This book covers not only the chase itself, but also the escape attempts both successful and unsuccessful, as well as the execution of James J. Andrews and other raiders.

I highly recommend this book.
