Barry, Craig L.,The Cvil War Musket: A Handbook for Historical Accuracy-Lock, Stock and Barrel, Watchdog Quarterly Inc, 2006.

This is an important work by Mr Barry; a complilation of many different bits into one easy to access work. If you are at all interested in CW arms and their repros this is a must. The lists of sources are invaluable and the comments and ratings of different reproductions is priceless for anyone intersted in purchasing.

My only complaint on the work is that I wanted more... if that is the biggest complaint it certainly isn't enough to not pick it up.

$27.95... a good price IMHO.

Shane, I take it that the work concerns how to spot fakes or conversions from contemporary arms to period looking pieces?

It's more along the lines of how & what to do to increase the authenticity of a repop. Though it could certainly be used to spot the fakes floating around out there.

It only came out in March, I picked my copy up from Fall Creek (needed some paper ladies for the unit and it was just down the road) I don't believe they had added it to their inventory yet. It was only released back in March and I had already seen a copy... so I grabbed it up.
