Any one familiar with this bookseller?

Any comments?

samgrant,

I have dealt with him for some obscure firearms reference books and have always been pleased.

I've bought a couple books from him through abebooks.com. Look like he's branching out. If he's got what you want at a price you want to pay, I'd say go for it.

Bought a lot of books from him. He's reliable as is Morningside Books (RIP Bob Younger) and Olde Soldier Books. Sometimes C. Clayton Thompson is the only game in town in which case I would urge you to buy immediately.

Had not heard of him until your post, Sam. Checked out his website. He's got a lot of nice stuff. And from the feedback provided by the other posters he's got a good reputation as well.

I was just informed by email that a book I ordered from Abebooks (BTW I would never have heard of Abebooks either had I not joined this board) is being shipped from C. Clayton Thompson. It is one of Cozzens "Battles and Leaders of the Civil War" volumes. That is a coincidence is it not? I guess Abebooks is sort of an umbrella company that encompasses other book sellers as its suppliers, but then I guess you can order books directly from those suppliers as well. Kind of confusing.

Terry,

That is exactly right. In fact, if you see a book is from Clayton in the future, order it directly from him. It will save him the fee he has to pay Abebooks.

The guy will take care of you. I ordered a book from him through Abebooks, and the distributor in Chicago lost the order. He's called me twice to keep me updated on its status. He's having the book shipped directly to me from the distributor now, instead of to him, then to me. I would recommend him to anyone wanting a reputable dealer to order a book from, without hesitation.
