The Undefeated - J. Wayne, R. Hudson... Just saw this movie on TV today, not totally stupid, but kind of improbable.
Wayne's character has apparently been involved in every battle (from Shiloh to at least Chickamauga) in which relatives of Rock's were killed, so he spends alot of time with qualified apologies as wayne's and Rock's parties wind up involved together fleeing the Union forces, for different reasons, don't ask.
Rock tries to lead a bunch of lost causers to some place in Mexico where he will be will be welcomed by Emp. Maximilian?
Well Rock's Rebs are tricked and are held hostage by the forces of the real indigenous Mexicans under Juarez?
And of course, Wayne's bunch eventually saves Rock's Rebs and everybody is happy, even the Mexicans!
Finally the song 'Battle Hymn' is tried, and objected to, then 'Dixie' is tried and objected to, but finally 'Yankee Doodle' is played and everybody heads back north from Mexico to the territories, presumably to live happy ever after.
Oh, almost forgot the pathos of the daughter of the Reb. Colonel's love affair with Wayne's bunch, an Indian! Problematic.
Whew!
