I've begun slowly reading my copy. Haven't gone very far. He begins with a lot of background on Sherman, Thomas and Hood moving briefly through the Atlanta campaign and I'm now at the point where the Confederates are advancing north into Tennessee from Tuscumbia. As reported earlier, lots of references from footnotes. I'm picking up some tidbits I hadn't seen before. The copy I bought at the Carter House was signed, at least initials.
The info he did on Spring Hll that was on his websight was very footnote heavy..
Well looks lilke nothing new on the unit my 3rd great grandfather was in.. I was hopeing he would find a gold mine of info . but he might have just found the info i helped him with.
Thank you Sam for checking on that for me.. And Larry I know that place
in history fairly well. the Last great hope for the Army of Tennessee
Forwars Men
Regards, Steven

It wouldn't take much charm to overwhelm the motley crew at the Carter House museum. (All fine gentlemen, just a bit homely.)
I'll bring a copy of this post when I stop by there.

Discretion is the better part of valor? Homely won't embarrass these boys, several of us have that condition. We're lovable, however. I've slowly worked my way into the book and am still not quite into Spring Hill. From what I know about the part of the campaign he has described in the first two chapters, I'd say this book is well researched. As someone pointed out earlier, he must have had a serious teacher in high school who drove footnotes into his brain. Obvious good direction to further reading. The book is ..... for CAUSE for COUNTRY Eric A. Jacobson with co-author Richard A. Rupp, O'More Publishing, Franklin, TN www.omorecollege.edu
Hello, My name is Eric A. Jacobson, the author of For Cause & For Country. I am flattered by the kind words I have read on the board. I think those who have an interest in Spring Hill and Franklin will find the book a welcome addition to literature on the subject. I spent about 10 years researching the project and believe the story is finally told in its entirety, especially from a point of objectivity. I welcome any questions or comments and look forward to the book helping to tell what I feel is the most compelling and undertold story of the Civil War. Thank you.
If I call in an order for the book, could I get it signed?
Thanks, Miss Markie
