Hoosier:
It featured Jimmy Stewart. Ergo, it's a western.
Sam:
Psychobabble. Flynn was an effete pretender. Wayne was an authentic pretender. Eastwood might be a pretender, but I haven't found the chink in his armor. We won't, or oughtn't, bring Ladd into this discussion. And wasn't it "In like Flint"? (Coburn notwithstanding.) And how could I (Thor personified) possibly be envious of a pretty Irishman?

But we digress. Shenandoah and Red Badge -- the best of the best CW movies. A plague upon "western."

Apparently you didn't get my drift. For purely educational purposes, I list these links:

[quote=samgrant]Ole,

"Ride with the Devil" is a film adaption of Devil Knows How to Ride:, The True Story of William Clark Quantrill and His Confederate Raiders by Edward E. Leslie and is a darned good movie!

quote]

Sockknitter has galloped in to correct me on this. While the title and subject matter are similar to that of the Leslie book, the film is actually based on the Daniel Woodrell novel Woe to Live On.

The Western that first got me interested in the War Between the States when I was very young "Rocky Mountain" which starred Errol Flynn. I was able to obtain a not so good copy a few years back just wish it would be released onto DVD!
