Default Spielberg to film Lincoln Movie

A friend works in the movie industry (Gaffer) and
mentioned to me last evening that he is set to start
working on Steven Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln movie.
It was confirmed by the local press this morning and
shooting started today. Liam Neeson the "King of the
Biopics" and the star of Schindler's List, Rob Roy,
Michael Collins, and Kinsey, will play Lincoln. The
movie will be based on "Team of Rivals : The Political
Genius of Abraham Lincoln" a biography of Lincoln by
historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, (has anyone read this
book?) I understand that the book is excellent.

If done in the usual Spielberg style this could be a
very interesting movie. It is bound to raise interest
in the Civil War and Lincoln himself. A Win-Win for us.

It's a fine book. Focuses on the other battles (in the North, political mostly) that Lincoln had to wage, other than those of the rebellion, that is.

Not sure how it would play as a movie, but Spielberg usually finds a way (tho his "Armistad" was not a popular success).

I've also seen references to a film in development about Booth/Dr. Mudd.

Is this a trend toward CW film's absent the battle stuff? If so, too bad for you highly paid reenactors!

Actually, I think it's appropriately, but perhaps fortuitously, timed to coincide with the Lincoln bicentennial and the 150-year anniversary of the CW. Well, in an 'appetizer' sort of way, maybe. I think it'll generate some timely interest.
