Default Echoes of Glory........
I own many, many books, but one of my most prized is the three volume box set called, "Echoes of Glory." These were published by Time-Life back in 1991, and are not your run-of-the-mill Time-Life publications. They include some of the best photographic (color) examinations of Civil War equipment, uniforms, and flags in existence today. They are excellent works and not to mention, beautiful volumes. I read about them on a forum a couple of years ago and was able to locate a set at a book shop in Pennsylvania, and I'm sure glad I did. As they say here in my neck of the woods, I wouldn't take a horse for them!

Anyone else have these in their library?

John I do well i just have the union and coinfederates books.. dont have the map one,

A great source to see what the men had.

I bought mine off ebay $20 for each.. shop around some as i'm sure there are some out there a bit cheaper.

The map volume is an excellent reference.

Borders used to sell all 3 in paperback for like $10 but I don't know if they still do.

Another place to check is Abebooks, www.abebooks.com I just glanced at the search results and saw the atlas and the Union paperbacks for around 15-20 dollars each. I looked at the Amazon link... guess I'll treat my copies with more respect!!

I can't believe the price the hardbacks are fetching now! I feel as if I made a pretty good investment!

All joking aside, they are an incredible resource. The color photos are excellent.

I never knew that they had been released in a paperback version.

I am lucky enough to have the Confederate one in hardback, the Union one in paperpack, and yes, they are an incredible resource for anyone, to include the serious reenactor searching for the correct style and type of anything!

Mine are in Hardback as well.. I havent looked through ii in a while but do remember in the confederate book their is a uniform that was made by a mother for her son.. If i remeber right he was killed only days before it arrived.. or uniforms where you you could see where the bullets tore through them and the owner was killed.

Its one thing to read about such things but to actually see a garment or flag or wood floors and see the blood stains on them .. Brings a haunting reminder of what this nation once went through. Been a emotional week with the 141st Franklin Anv.

Excellent books I use them regularily as reference for colors etc. when I paint my models.
