Anyone ever read Harry Turtledove's alternate history novel, " Guns of the South " ?For those who haven't read it, the story deals with two strangers meeting with General Lee and presenting him an AK-47, with the promise of many more. Fascinating story.

Read it. Real crazy story. I like the part when Gen Lee sees a modern PC.

Confederate Ancestors: Captain Thomas A. Morrow, 29th Texas Cavalry (G-G-G- Uncle) and 2LT George W. Morrow, 31st Texas Cavalry (G-G-G Grandfather). Both survived the war
I liked the part when the south kicked the norths but and won the war.

There are several books in Turtledove's series. I believe the South wins and Lee is elected President. Can't remember, it's been a long while since I read it. A friend of mine read the entire series and loved it.

Sounds good- I like alternate histories. Bring very engaging questions to the fore. i am presently in the middle of New Gingrich's series, where Lee wins at Gettysburg and basically scuttles the Army of the Potomac. My stomach keeps churning, thinking, My God, the danged Rebs might freakin win !!??!!

I am reading this book as we speak. Very well written for a piece of alternative history. Mr. Turtledove is a master of it. I love his dealings with ww1. Funny how he chose the 47th North Carolina. Im curious as to why he chose them? But overall a good read so far. Right now, Im at the point where the Major from the PA regiment joins up on the attack on the Revinton guys.
