This music pertaining to the book, or the woman anyway, blew me away. The performers are new to me. I guess ignorance leads to bliss sometimes in that it leads so much happy discovery.
It's the 5th song down, "Carrie". You don't have to register. Just click on the button for your connection speed.
Sockknitter,
I never seen or heard this before. Thank you for posting this. To Answer your question I would say the song is based on the woman. as the book is based on her as well.
A most beautiful song. How did you find it?
regards, steven

Steven, I found the link to the song on another discussion site. I dug around a little, including at Amazon, and could NOT find where to buy the CD.
The singers are from Bristol, England. They've been together for more than a decade and have released several CDs. They've performed in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and other U.S. cities. If you can find their music for sale anywhere, I'd like to hear about it!
Geez, I almost bought this book during my short visit to Carnton this week, but I opted for the Battle of Franklin DVD instead. I'll definitely have to pick it up in the future. If it's anywhere near as good as "The Black Flower", I'll be pleased.

If you enjoyed the "Black Flower" I think you will enjoy this aas well.
How did you like the Franklin DVD? I was there but found my self on the cutting room floor and but parts of my unit are in the reenactment part.. The documentary is by far one of the best i seen of the battle.
Another miust see is the the Civil war Combat Documentary on the battle.

I found the DVD excellent. The battle scenes were very well done and I thought it was a nice touch how they did the comments of the participants in a sort of antique recording style, which sounded far-off, as if they were speaking through time. I think the only faults I had with it was the fact that they over-did it a little on the ominous music and also seemed to rush through the Spring Hill debacle, but other than that, I enjoyed it very much. It's definitely a story that needs to be told more.
I'm currently reading "A Distant Flame", by Phillip Lee Williams. If you haven't read this one, it is a fictional account of a Georgia Sharpshooter in Cleburne's Division. A very good read so far, and I'm about half-way through.
Best Regards,
John W.

John , I agree 100% It is a story that needs to be retold and I do so as often as possible. I will have to look for the book you are reffering to. sounds interesting.
Will you be attending the Fort Dickerson event in early Nov?

Steven,
Not sure about that one, but I'd like to. Unfortunately, I'm not able to reenact, though I've always wanted to, and admire those who do. My wife & I attend the events as spectators whenever we can. Many of my brothers in my SCV camp are reenactors. Do you ever attend the Battle of Blue Springs reenactment in Mosheim? We usually try to make that one because it's close to us.
Also, do you ever attend the Civil War show in Nashville in December?
Regards,
John W.
