Default Lost for the Cause

Lost for the Cause by Steven Newton is an interesting look at the CSA Army of 1864. It takes a hard and detailed look at the numbers and deployment of the Confederate Army in the last year of the War. But most importantly to me it contains perhaps the most detailed Order of Battle for the CS Army of 1864.

I have to admit that it does drag at times and is chock full of stats... a number crunchers dream but I have to admit that at times, as in HS Algebra, I found my eyes glazing over.

All in all this is a good book to take a look at what will force most to take another look at the last year of the War. I know it left me with a different view of the CS Army in the last year of the war and a whole nother look to the efforts in recruiting fresh troops.

It is always ourselves or our fancied influence in other countries. Louis L'amour
