Anybody got a scanner and can post for the gang? I'm happy to send a copy of the article. Actually, I should get off my arse, write Eric Bye (editor) and make sure I can republish. For what they paid me, I spent more in books. As consolation though, it helps pay for some of those books.

I just finished updating my reference list. These are all books that I keep close to hand. Some are considerably better or more detailed than others. Th}e Campaigns of the Civil War series are a wonderful series, though not all well written they are a wonderful resource. I've only been able to pick up a few as they aren't always readily available at my local half price books. I'm beginning to dislike much of what I get from Osprey; some of their research is suspect and their conclusions sometimes a bit biased.

I found this site listing hundreds of books about the American Civil War. It also has reviews and where to buy, etc.

Anybody know where I can get a copy of Baumgartner's "Echos of Battle: The Atlanta Campaign?" It's been out of print for a couple of years.

Believe it or not, check your local half price books; I've been shocked silly what I've found there lately. Namely 1861 United States Uniform Regulations...

Thanks Shane. Whenever I travel (and I seem to go out of state every three months) I always drop into the local bookstores and pour over their second hand book section. I've purchased quite a number of books at half price or less and some out-of-print books that I've been looking for. Unfortunately, Baumgartner's is one of those that I haven't found for my research.

If you all want to knock yourselves out, there is a volume entitled Civil War Books a priced checklist by Tom Broadfoot. It is updated every 5 years and is 703 pages long listing every book published the previous 10 years and alllllllllllll the way back!! Between the 2000 edition and the 1996 edition, he has added another 2000 titles along with their estimated resale prices.

Broadfoot Publishing Company

Very excellent reference source.

The first half is Alphabetically by titles. The second half is alphabetically by authors so if you are looking for a specific title, you are sure to find it.
