I still say Billy Crudup, or maybe Colin Farrell. Someone who actually resembles Grant. (Based on the meager available images of Grant without the beard. The beard can always be added, but hopefully not like poor Berringer's strawlike Longstreet beard!)

They let the movie rights expire so its very unlikely that anyone will
ever do part 3. Expecially after the extremely poor showing for
GoG. Which was so poor that the intended extended DVD, with another
3 1/2-4 hours, will not be produced.

I too doubt that it will ever see the big screen. Movies like that need thousands of extras and reenactors. Its a big buget film with little chance of return. A wealthy person will have to bank role it and I think Ted Turner lost too much on the other two films. If it ever does happen the reenactors will be the first to know. The Lincoln movie that Spielburg is filming can be done for much less money as most of it can be done inside the studio and the outside scenes can be done overseas. Plus the fact that Spielburgs name will generate an audience on its own. Liam Neeson will play Lincoln which is another guaranteed big name.

Anyone but Sheen playing Lee again.

Pathetic is an understatement. To me, he made him seem like a weak imbecile. Maybe it was just me.

I e-mailed Dr. Robertson yesterday afternoon and got a reply this morning. Sounds like it could be a while.

At last report, work was beginning on the script for "The Last Full Measure." Script production usually takes 18 months or so--and that is but the first stage. But at least movement is afield.

Nice to know that a script is in the works. I personally think it will bt 2010 before this hits the big screen.

Two different websites...two different responses to The Last Full Measure question: Shaara,
REGARDING "THE LAST FULL MEASURE":
Many of you have written, asking if the film version of this book is being produced, to complete the Civil War trilogy. Unfortunately, because of the poor box office results for "Gods and Generals", Ted Turner has dropped all plans to finance a film version of "Last Full Measure". Someone else may yet step forward, but so far, no one in Hollywood has shown interest. Despite the many rumors to the contrary, I'm sorry to say that no film is now in the works.
Jeff Shaara.

Maxwell,

The Last Full Measure
This film will follow all the characters from 'Gods and Generals' and 'Gettysburg' from July 1863 to April 1865, with the additional characters of U.S. Grant, Sheridan and Sherman. Additional information on 'Last Full Measure' will be posted on this page as the project advances.

Whose is more up-to-date and/or realistic and believable???

Bart
