If any of you are into reenacting, these two books are worthwhile reading even if they are mainly fiction. I really loved Ghost Riders by Sharyn McCrumb. That one really makes you stop and think about what you are doing. It is a fiction story woven around a real situation that happened in the North Carolina mountains. The Last of the Dixie Heroesis a good fiction read and fast moving. It is set in modern day Georgia, but does some very interesting telling of one guy's foray into reenacting and the events surrounding this mystery. Hope you like them!

I strongly suggest reading The Black Flower by Howard Bahr.
It is a short book about the day before and the day after the battle of Franklin as seen through the eyes of a confederate soldier and a young lady who cares for wounded soldiers.
There are other colorful characters to be sure, but these are the main focus for the author.

I would highly recommend the Black Flower as well.

And The Promise of Glory by C.X. Moreau is also a excellent work of Civil War fiction. This is a novel about the battle of Antietam.
