Ron Paul said in an interview on Meet the Press that Lincoln was wrong to have fought the Civil War...what do you think?

I've been trying to find something good to say about the man. If I ever do, his statement on Lincoln was so ignorant that it will cancel out anything else he has to say.

Default And Ron Paul

is running for President of the United States.

Of course, Paul is a Libertarian and Lincoln wasn't.

Lincoln spent billions, on credit, fighting the Civil War. Libertarians don't like credit.

A branch member, of my wife's family out of Pennsylvania, made a fortune selling bonds to support the war. The Confederacy had absolutely no idea how much money would be raised from the sale of bonds. Bonds which provided the funds to buy war material; war material that would help crush the Confederacy.

Maybe he would have wanted a shot at becoming CSA President. He has a better chance of that than getting the Republican nomination.

I agree with you 100%. When the Rep. convention rolls
around, the question being asked will be "Ron Who"???

And speaking of "who's, it is said that some odd looking Illinois lawyer, with only 2 years experience in the US Congress, is said to be a candidate for President!

My bet is that his opinion comes straight out of Jeffery Rogers Hummel's book - Emancipating Slaves, Enslaving Free Men.

I guess along the way he should have stopped off here with his Civil War education.

Wheew, forget about Paul. This Huckabee sez: "[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it's a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards,"

Apparently Huck (cousin of Hound?) has a problem with our Constitution (and the ear of the Lord?).

Religion and the Federal Government: PART 1 (Religion and the Founding of the American Republic, Library of Congress Exhibition)

Oh, well.

Default Consistent

The statement is consistent with his views on state's rights.

If you read some of his positions and take it on step further it makes you wonder if he wants to be elected for purposes of becoming the last President.

He wants out of international organizations, he wants to throw virtually everything onto the states, he wants to effectively close many departments of the Federal government (including the IRS, which sounds good until you realize your state government is simply going to raise its taxes)

Essentially he supports enfeebling the Federal government to such an extent that it will be a non-entity.
