I don't know too much about baseball, but I would guess that if a relegation and promotion system was introduced, then certain teams would be unlikely to ever be relegated. This is also the case with most football leagues in Europe. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal do not even contemplate relegation at the start of the season. The same applies to Bayern Munich in Germany, and the big two in Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona. There was a recent exception. Turin giants Juventus were relegated to Serie B of the Italian league. This was after they were found guilty of 'manipulating' referees. Manchester United were relegated in the early 1970's (to scenes of great delight throughout the rest of England). But this was a one off, and would be like the Yankees being relegated.

To oversimplify, the only way to fill a stadium (with a few exceptions named above) is to field a team with potential. I simply don't see the fans tolerating such a rule. Sounds good in theory; falls on its face in reality.

I know I may not never happen here but something has to be done with the MLB, NBA, and NHL for they play a lot of useless games that mean nothing.

If these leagues refuse to revenue share and promote competitiveness they will always be second trier to the NFL...

Think of College sports became more competitive once everyone was allow the same number of scholarships per-school.

In Pro sports if the money is shared among teams then everyone is more competitive. The NFL has proven this...

Would it not be great to see the Cubs kick down to the minors finally being embarrasses for the lack of competitiveness...

Default Indoor Soccer(FUBU)

I assume indoor soccer(FUBU) is played on that side of The Pond as well as over here. Our local Pro-indoor soccer team just finished their first season. It is an interesting take for on the sport because indoor soccer over here has NBA type scoring and hockey type power plays, while playing on a hockey ring size area.

I went to one game this year and it is much faster then traditional soccer(FUBU) game played outside. There are a lot more shoots on goal and more goals scored as well, plus add in NBA scoring and the scores are mush higher then regular soccer(FUBU).

MY question is: What do the British think about indoor Fubu and is it play in Britain and Europe?

Is there a Pro-indoor Fubu league in Britain like here in America?

Let me know, thanks

There is no pro indoor league game in Britain, and I have never heard of one anywhere in Europe. Five or seven a side football is popular with the general public as evening recreation. Almost all sports centres run leagues, either indoors or outdoors. I sometimes used to play seven a side for our works team. I think the American equivalent would be workplace baseball teams. Every pro football club uses five and seven a side in training.

They have a Fustal World Cup, and a Beach Soccer World Cup. Surprisingly the US does quite well in these competitions.

Default Not UNpopular

Well contrary to European belief, soccer is NOT unpopular in the United States, it simply isn't as popular as other sports.

The odds of any one person exhibiting professional caliber atthletic skills is very rare. Most people who played sports well, and those who continue on to play at a collegiate/professional level are likely to have tried more than one sport, including soccer. They wind up focusing on the sport that interests them the most - statistically that means baseball, basketball and football. This is why the US cannot be competitive at the World Cup at present, the ahtletic talent gets soaked up by these sports.

It's only a matter of time before the US will be considered one of the top 10 teams in the FIFA rankings. Look at the number of people we have to draw talent from. Also this generation of kids are growing up being coached by folks who know the game. When I played as a kid our coach was the one father who was able to get off work in time to run the practice. He didn't know the game and we just played and learned at the same time. If you look at baseball, the majority of American men could tell you the basics of the game. Not so for soccer when I was growing up. The "best" player was the one who could kick the ball the ****hest. I have played my whole life and went to college on a scholarship. I coach my kids teams and can teach them the whole game. Just wait until the 2014 World Cup. I look for the US to make a real big showing.

Default Violence

For me, the violence associated with soccer cannot be tolerated. Living in NJ, the World Cup came to NJ in 1994. I remember watching USA v. Colombia and unfortunately a member of the Colombian squad accidentally knocked into the Colombian goal. USA won, very much like Bill Buckner or Scott Norwood. Unfortunately the poor guy was shot dead after returning to Colombia. Absolutely outrageous.

As the old joke has it: 'Football is a game for gentlemen played by hooligans; rugby is a game for hooligans played by gentlemen'

Engrained in English culture is the fact that we won the World Cup. Once.

Default Calling mt155 The Glasgow Derby game

Well, they had another spirited encounter on Wednesday night at Parkhead. Rangers player sent off for stopping a certain goal with his hand. Punch up between players on the field at the end of the match. More red cards following a further punch up in the tunnel after the match had finished. Never a boring event. They do it all again in about two weeks time.
Almost forgot, Celtic won 2-1. First time they have beaten Rangers in five attempts.
