This is live coverage of the first semi-final in the Indian Cricket League. This is a 20 overs a side match between two teams made up of overseas legends (Aussies, Saffers, Kiwis) plus young Indian and Pakistani players. Even if you have no idea what is going on, the coverage is worth watching just for the commentators and crowd.
I think the first semi is between The Lahore Badshahs and The Kolkata Tigers.
Probably quite safe to say I am the only person on the board who lists cricket as their favourite sport. I also watch football, especially the UEFA Champions League and English Premier League. But I do struggle with the idea of multi millionaire Brazilians, Spaniards and West Africans playing in Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle.
What! Not Snooker! For shame.

Drag racing! Ain't nothing like running wot against another car in a car you've built yourself. NHRA is alright but I'm more for the Saturday night type bracket races. Also enjoy a good super late model dirt track race. Lost interest in nascar after the older drivers from my youth left the scene. Ex-wife worked for Earnhardt when he crashed at Daytona. The obsession I once had with sports faded over the years when it seemed as though there were few too many pure players, but who could blame a guy for signing a multi million dollar contract when the opportunity arises.

Blockaderunner, I know the English don't like the American ownership, Man U and Liverpool Etc., so how ironic that Fulham with all the Americans will most likely end up back in the Championship! How did such storied teams such as Man U and Liverpool allow the take overs anyway? I really couldn't see the Yankees or Cowboys being owned by foreigners.

MT!
We Americans tend to be ignorant of British Fubu. I was interested in Fulham commit so is Fulham owned by an American or is the team made up of Americans.
One day an American Football team will be own by a foreign person or company because it is always about the dollar....
I have a question if a(or) Team(s) finishes at the bottom of your Premiere league what happens to it? Do they get the first draft pick in next Fubu draft or something else?

Check out what Murdoch has done through News Corp. If you look through their corporate labyrinth you'll see a connection (ownership) to quite a few sports franchises, both US Sports and international.
Badshahs were ancient muslim kings. Lahore Badshahs are a Pakistani team playing in the Indian Cricket League.
The crowd are fantastic. Men waving flags and banners, blowing trumpets sitting next to elegantly dressed Indian women wearing saris. The Australian commentators are always entertaining.
"G'day Mikey"......."G'day Symo"..
"He picked that shot out like picking his nose!!"
"He's given that one some Larry Dooley!!"
If Fulham finish in the bottom three of the FA Premier League they will be relegated to the Football League Championship. All of the bottom three are relegated. With six games remaining, Fulham look certain to go down. Three teams from the Championship will be promoted.
There is no draft pick. Clubs can buy players from other clubs (very expensive) or from overseas clubs (usually cheaper). They can also promote players from their own youth academy. There is also the possibility of signing players for free if their contracts have expired.
The English Premier League is big business. Television deals and sponsorship run into hundreds of millions of £/$. The money floating around in the English game is way ahead of the two closest rivals, Spain and Italy. This makes English clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool attractive to overseas investors. The opposition to the takeovers comes from fans. They see the new owners as only being involved to make money, rather than furthering the interests of the club. There are exceptions. The multi billionaire Russian oil and steel baron, Roman Abrahmovic, owns London club Chelsea. Abrahmovic has poured hundreds of millions of his own money into the club. Chelsea are a hobby to him. But they have rewarded him with a clutch of trophies.
No, Fulham are not American owned, but they do have four American players in their squad. Goalkeeper Kasey Keller, forwards Eddie Johnson and Brian Mcbride, and midfielder Carlos Bocanegra. Mcbride is the current club Captain. Fulham are owned by Mohamed Al Fayed, who is the also the owner of Harrods. You may remember his son Dodi, who was killed in the car crash with Princess Diana.
To the best of my knowledge, there are only two other Americans playing in the Premier League. Both are goalkeepers. Brad Friedel for Blackburn Rovers and Marcus Hahneman for Reading. Of the American players playing in England, Friedel is probably the highest rated.
Blockaderunner, Don't forget Eddie Lewis with Derby. I can't remember who but I believe we have a few yanks with Reading? Chelsea are like the Yankees here with Steinbrener. He has all the cash to buy the players. Even enough to pick a player or two he does not need just so the Sox or Blue jays can't have them. I love to watch the play in for the last spots for promotion into the Premiere League, great, inspired play all around. Didn't you guys have a rule concerning the number of foreign players on each roster? Lampard and Terry are the only Englishmen to start for the Blues, correct?
