The Champions League is contested by club sides, the European Championship is contested by National teams.
Careful about putting money on Germany, this is not a vintage German side. They have a slow, suspect defence who could be torn apart by Fabregas, Xavi, Torres and Villa. On the other hand, the Germans do have a habit of winning these things. Spain can often fold on the big stage.
It's going to be a good game. I have all the old team mates coming over to watch the match. Good times all around. The more I think about it, I can see the Spaniards finally pulling though, but lets see which Spanish team shows up.
I noticed but, in this case, we'll call it cheering.

The Cheering may have to wait after I wake up on Monday morning.....The Euro2008 won't be on the T.V. until 2:30am Monday....I think the Europeans forgot about the U.S. market. When they schedule the game... Hopefully, I am not correct about the time...

What channel? This has to be the equivalent of the Super Bowl and the World Series rolled into one! Heck. It is the REAL World Series (except that the name has been taken).

I watched here in TX (central time zone) at 2:00PM. Spain played like they wanted it more than the Germans did. they had more flare and better attacking flow of play. They deserved to win. I would have left Torres in the whole game.....they way he was attacking Lahm and commpany, I think he would have gotten a second. Klose, Ballack and Podolski .....no one took the lead and inspired the Germans. They looked beaten in the 2nd half.
Ole, this would not be the equivalent of the Super Bowl. That would be thee World Cup played every 4 years. The world teams start to qualify 2 years in advance just to make the tournament for the last 32 teams. The next one will be hosted by South Africa in 2010.
Spain deserved the win, not only for the performance in the final, but for the way they have played throughout the tournament. The only thing missing for Spain was Villa, who picked up a knock in an earlier game and missed the final. The Germans were well beaten, but had Torres and Villa been in tandem I think we would have seen 3-0 or 4-0.
One thing I bet everybody watching has forgotten, Spain lost one of their qualifiers to the mighty Northern Ireland. On the night they lost that match very few would have expected Spain to perform so well in the finals.
Closer to home, I am glad Croatia and Russia put up a good show. It makes them knocking England out a little easier to swallow.
College football is by far the best sport (with college basketball a distant second). No other sport has the passion, excitement, tradition, and pageantry of college football. For us in the South, college football (and to a lessor degree high school football) is a legitimate religion that folks drool over year round. As great as Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Lambeau Field are, those venues and sports simply don't compare to a College Football Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, or Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, or Sanford Stadium in Athens, or Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, or Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, or Doak-Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
Needless to say, I live for college football and can't wait until kickoff week in three weeks! I'm a Troy University alumnus and big Troy fan. I just got my tickets this week for the Troy/LSU game in Baton Rouge on September 6th and my Troy/Ohio State tickets for the game in Columbus on September 20th.
