I hope so, Ole.
It's a pity that football and baseball are not popular in my country. I haven't seen a f. or b. match in my life- I wonder if fans of those sports are such trouble-makers as our hooligans?
When I was a kid I was just happy for the US to have a good showing during international play. Then they qualified for Italia 90 and have qualified for every cup since. After their showing in Japan-Korea 2002 just getting there is not enough. I now expect them to get into the second round at least. The rivalry with Mexico is great. It used to be the only way they could match us in anything and now that we have not lost to them since the late 90's just eats them up. Hats off to Hull for getting the final spot in the Premiership, and to the 39 year old Windass for the tally.
The soccer program here in Canada is poorly run and that has resulted in little progress having been made in developing the national program.
Anyways, my favorite sports to watch are American Football, Canadian Football, Hockey and Baseball. I am also trying to get into UFC as a substitute to the subpar product the WWE has been putting out lately.
Calling William, I live in Houston and we have Wayne DeRosario playing for the Dynamo, Pat Onstad also. I remember in 1986 when the French were lucky to pull out a 1-0 win over Canada. I guess its hard to be a soccer player in the land of Hockey. My wife is a huge Penguin fan. After so many years of mediocrity its nice to see them back in the finals.
Unlikely to be a full strength England team for this game. Season has ended here so the American team have a decent chance of getting a result.
Who do the US play in World Cup qualifying? I would guess away games to Central American countries are quite tricky. England have some long trips to Eastern Europe in qualifying. The group is:
England
Croatia
Ukraine
Belarus
Kazakhstan
Andorra
Croatia and Ukraine are both difficult opponents. Belarus are ok. Kazakhstan??? Andorra are a pub team.

1986 is arguably the all-time high for Canadian soccer as it is the only time that Canada made it to the World Cup where they failed to score a goal and consequentially win a game.
I just want to bring to light one important fact about the World Cup. In the First World Cup back in 1930 our USA team placed third, our best showing since 1930.
2010 qualifying for the Cup:
Dominica/Barbados
Cuba
Guatemala
Trinidad-Tobago
This is like the first group or round of qualifying.

The US, barring any bonehead lapses, should be one of the top two to qualify from CONCACAF. Mexico should be the other, but Costa Rica and Panama are getting better and better each year and could play spoiler.

It took Wayne Gretzky longer than Sidney Crosby to make his first final. The turnaround in Pittsburgh has been nothing short of amazing though, smart drafting and a bold move to bring in Marian Hossa at the trade deadline has really helped the Penguins. However, I will say, that I believe that Detroit will win the series as I think that their experience will be a little too much for the Penguins at this point, but I'd be pleased for the Penguins to prove me wrong.
For more than a century, American boys grew up playing basketball, football and baseball. Many of the current generation grew up playing soccer as well. So American soccer teams will soon join the ranks of world class teams.

On the strength of tonights game it will be a few years yet. But don't worry you will improve.
