The site also has access to another discussion group, many members of which have been around for many years (internet wise that is),started originally by Shotgun, as an offshoot of his massive website,. This is the same group that does book discussions on Sunday and Monday evenings that I attend.
The present Sunday book, which is being finished up this wkend, is The Sable Arm by Cornish. In 2 wks we will start on Phanz's Gettysburg: Day One. On Mondays they are working on a book on Washington during the Civil War, a book I wanted to get into, but lack the reading time presently.(trying to get a bunch of photos up on my site).

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll go over there for a while. I've always tried hard to be historically correct; and above all...polite and respectful. There are some very tedious individuals on this forum. The crack by FSPowers about "liberals" wanting to destroy the country was pretty much the straw. That stuff belongs on the John Birch web-site...not here. I'm on walk-about for a while.

Calico, actually the "discussion" on CWI is a bit lame, not much activity, but polite folks. I'd recommend MilitaryHistoryOnline for a more active and informed discussion site. I regret your decision to bail on CWT, we always need Badgers to contribute their views.

As for the discussions in the CWi board, its because many belong to other discussion groups, sometimes 4 or 5 as I do. Also, because discussions are held off and on in their 'chat room' , which is now hosted by Shotgun. In fact, Shotgun saves and posts on his regular site, the book discussions held on Sunday and Monday nights.
When those same members go thru the CWi site book listings portal to Amazon, CWi receives a small percentage of the sales, whether books or any other items, which is used to support the daily newspaper website and costs of gathering the news. From time to time, they are able to present news flashes ahead of everyone else, and manage to get interviews ahead of the news pack. They also have a extensive cookbook section for the CW era. You don't have to be a member to read the news everyday. I believe the archives are also free again. They also, like Mike and Ami here, ask for donations to keep them open and supplying the important CW news of the day.

Thanks for the good tips my friends. Yes, I am disappointed with the attitudes of some on this forum. But the good folks here far outnumber the meanies. I'll try some other forums just to see what's out there. I will stay with this one, though. Too much good to pass up. I'll add a very merry Christmas to you all. Tis the season

There are other very nice and knowledgeable folks out there. You will find knotheads in equal proportion, and sometimes you can fall asleep trying to get some back and forth going.
