I'm kinda new to the Civil War on the web, and I've only really looked at Authentic Campaigner and Gettysburg Discussion Group. I kind of gravitated to this particular site (CWT) because of the generally friendly, respectful, courteous tone of the members. I really haven't had the desire to browse around. There's a load of knowledgable people posting stuff here. The couple of times I tried to interact on Authentic Campaigners turned out to be rather unpleasant. My opinion only, but the site seemed to be somewhat snobby, clique-ish, and not friendly to outsiders, from the little feedback I did receive. Anyway, as I said, it's only my opinion. CWT suits me just fine....Terry
I would have to say the next favorite site besides this one is the Authentic Campainger!

My favorite message board would also have to be www.history-sites.com. The folks on there are very knowledgeable and they have the site set up for individual state message boards, local historians are the best! They also have those special boards for flags, weapons, etc. I like the way it is set up because if you have a question about an event or are looking for an ancestor from a certain state, just look under that state. If you are looking for some special topic, they have boards for that and each board usually has a historian that specializes in that certain area.

Thanks to those of you who recommended history-sites.com. I just visited the Alabama section and think the question and answer threads are a great service. I'm sure I'll be using it regularly.
