2nd Lieutenant Benjamin Galbraith
of Battery 'B'

Born in Cumberland, England, Benjamin Galbraith was described as being 5' 9-1/2" Tall, of Light Complexion, he had Blue Eyes, Light Brown Hair, and was a Professional Jeweler. He joined 1st NJ Artillery, Battery B at age 30 from service in the 1st Regiment of NJ State Militia, Co. H. He was with Battery B for its entire existance, and was wounded at Chancellorsville on May 2, 1863 and saw action at Gettysburg July 2-3, 1863. He is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetary, located on Broadway, in Newark, New Jersey.
