A superb sampling of the art of artillery! A well blended concoction of the historical past smoothly blended with present day recreation of the art of Civil War artillery firing.

The 1st New Jersey Light Artillery, and its web master, Mike Kendra skillfully ties the past and present into a treat for the American Civil War connoisseur to partake. Mike and his friends have told the story, colorful history and glory that was this federal artillery unit -- while allowing the present day reader to understand the intricate workings of what makes a well rehearsed military unit come together.

The results are good reading, excellent photos, suburb historical documents, and images along with the wealth of the history compiled by this unit...having fought in a vast number of major military campaigns in the eastern theater of operations.

We, at the American Civil War Excellence Award AND the American Civil War Living Heritage Award are proud to bestow our small tokens of appreciation upon the 1st New Jersey Light Artillery for a job most well done. We offer to Mike Kendra and the rest of the boys of the 1st New Jersey Light Artillery, a tip of our kepi and and a rousing three cheers. We thank you boys.

Thank you for a very rewarding experience.

We remain most sincerely yours,

Joe Richard

...In viewing your page I was impressed all the information you have besides being a reenactor. The 1st New Jersey was in a lot of hot spots during the Civil War. Your presentation in giving us valuable information about the Regiment has truly made its history for all to see. I would like to give you my award for such great content...

Keep up the great work. You have a love for the Civil War and it shows.

Congratulations! You have been awarded the very select "Cool Living History Web Site" Award. Your web site is both outstanding in terms of its graphics and design as well as educational content! This is not an award that is given merely to generate traffic to our site, but is actually awarded on a very selective basis and was designed to promote excellence in living history web sites and to encourage cross-era recognition in the hobby.

Mike,

Great web site!! One of the best I have seen yet! You have done a great job telling about the history of the 1st NJ Light Artillery, and I really enjoyed looking through the school of artillery. By the way, I scored a 78% on your quiz! Not bad for an infantryman, let alone a drummer!! Well, keep up the great work!

Hello Mike,

Recently you requested that Civil War Interactive review your website for inclusion in LinkCentral. That review is now complete. While we recognize several hundred sites within LinkCentral, only a select few have received our Five Star Award.

We are pleased to award the 11th CWI Five Star Award to The First New Jersey Light Artillery Website. We have examined your site and found it to be a shining example of how the Internet can contribute to a thorough understanding of the Civil War. Please extend our congratulations to everyone in your group for this achievement...
